Soccer Time!

Markus was out of town on a short notice business trip and Constanze had to work Saturday morning – normally not a big deal but this past Saturday was Julius’ first soccer game! So Amanda, Allie, Sandi (my sister, who is here from the hurricane) & I took him to his game.

He looked so cute in his little uniform, shin guards & cleats. He had a great time playing and even scored a goal!

Amanda & Allie were his "personal" cheering section. They don't look enthusiastic here as it is very early for a Saturday morning..10 AM!

Pouring rain and 60 mile an hour winds…..

That was the forecast last weekend due to Hurricane Ike’s bee line for the Texas coast.

So what do you do when Mother Nature is bearing down on you??? You have a hurricane party of course! So we invited a few friends over and got ready for the bad weather. As it turns out the forecast was wrong and we ad bright blue skies and HOT weather all weekend. Not even a drop of rain!! It make for a very weird hurricane party but a nice night of sitting on the deck and drinking homemade “hurricanes”.

Weekend at Grandma & Grandpa's

We made a “quick trip” to may parents place this past weekend. We went down Friday night and came home on Sunday. We had not been to their house in over a year and it was nice to see all the changes they have done.

Amanda & Emily were at their Dad’s so my Mom & I tried to entertain Allie some. Dad & David worked on the RV on Saturday. They packed the bearings – whatever that actually is, while Allie, Mom & I went on a bike ride. We saw some deer and the neighbor’s cows on our ride.

My Dad got out my old B-B gun and let Allie do some target practice. She was actually a pretty good shot!

Shep & Dog were recruited to “play” as well.
On Sunday morning Allie helped Grandma make breakfast. She cracked the eggs, grated the cheese and made sure everything was “just right” on the table.

Maybe we can stay longer next time we go.

The Grasshopper Whisperer?

Amanda has stumbled upon another one of her unique talents. She can tame grasshoppers!! Well, she has tamed at least one so far. She caught a wild one while we were camping last weekend and decided to keep it as a pet. She made a little "home" for him in an old hermit crab cage. She feeds him fresh vegetables and plays with him. She can take him out of his cage and he will "ride" around the house on her shoulder. She has even taken him to school with her - and he doesn't hop away! I checked him out - he is fully capable of hoping, but just seems content with her. Last night she feel asleep with him on her leg and he slept with her almost all night.

She also seems to have this talent with her pet frog.

I wonder if we can turn this into a money making thing somehow???? :)

Allie's taking what???

Allie was talking to her Aunt Sandi Tuesday night, when my sister asked her what was up. She promptly and confidently replied

“I am starting "Nitro" tomorrow”.

To which my sister said

“Let me talk to your mother immediately please”!

Allie, with the strangest look on her face, handed me the phone and said “Aunt Sandi needs to talk to you right now”!

Well, as it turns out my sister had just been watching the TV show “House” and was freaking out about Allie’s comment. Not knowing that Allie was talking about Nitro Swimming, Sandi understandably thought Allie meant she was going to begin taking nitroglycerine for a heart condition. Once I explained the situation we both had a good laugh about it.

Allie & Emily both started swimming at Nitro Swimming today after school. Both will be training throughout the school year so they will have a head start for summer swim next year.

Go Nitro!!!

To jump or not to jump....

One of the couples that we met in Port Aransas, Paul & Jenny, own Sky Dive San Marcos and just happen to be there this weekend. We went over to check it out on Sunday. It is really a neat operation. David and I had fun taking a few photos of some of the students jumping. It is definitely something I want to do one day. We did not have time for me to take the training this weekend - but I will get back there one day.

Tubin'

We had a wonderful weekend tubin with a big group of friends. It turned out to be the biggest group yet - 10 adults & 10 kids. We had such a fun time that unfortunately I did not take any photos. :( Lisa took a few and was nice enough to share with me.... Thanks Lisa.

As you can see - It took quite a few tubes to accommodate all of us.

We loaded up the truck and shuttled just up the river from our campground. It took about two hours to float back to our camp - http://www.pecanpark.com/ It is a really nice campground. We will definitely visit them again. They even have great little cabins for our friends who don't have an RV.

The kids loved the in-door pool at the park.
